Director Roles
The London Borough of Hackney

A better Hackney for everyone. A greater opportunity for you.

Diverse, vibrant, creative, exciting and adaptable. This is Hackney. Capturing the very best of London in seven square miles, ours is an incredible borough. With strong communities and residents from many backgrounds, we are proud to be a welcoming place for everyone. We celebrate our diversity and work relentlessly to be an actively anti-racist borough, where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging.

Over the past 20 years, we have built a reputation for excellence, innovation, ambition and delivering first class services for our residents. We’re leading the way in the fight for equity in Hackney. It is a great time to join us in Hackney as there is still much work to be done. With our ‘Working Together for a Better Hackney’ strategy, we have a large-scale transformation and improvement plan – and big ambitions for the people who live and work here. Working closely with our communities and our partners, we will tackle the challenges we face together. And we will do our utmost to make a better Hackney for everyone.

We are looking for outstanding leaders who can balance political drivers with corporate priorities in a dynamic, changing environment. People who can bring vision, strategy and change to life, inspiring their teams to lead on transformational change. You will play a career-defining role in delivering a borough that is fairer, safer, greener and healthier, and provides the best start for every child.

Our vision is to be a place for everyone. A place that celebrates diversity, and where residents and staff can feel proud, valued, included and involved. To help us achieve this, we look for people who share our values. People who are Inclusive, Pioneering, Proactive, Open, Ambitious and Proud.

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. We also recognise that people can be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we also work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We welcome flexible working and we particularly welcome applications from disabled people, as this group is currently underrepresented in our workforce. Join us.
